Wind Waker is a solved game. It has a certain moment where its systems no longer become any more interesting and hits a wall.
This applies to all 3D Zeldas BEFORE the Wild Era. Aonuma is thinking far bigger than people give him credit for.
Backrooms directed by Shigeru Miyamoto be like "You don't get it, Mary, there are like different levels. Level 1 is an office building but level 2? It's like an old indoor swimming pool. Heh, real vaporwave vibes, huh?"
Modern Zelda fans are so funny, they go "We had the same OoT-style games for 10 years, it got stale! We needed botw" and then you look at the last 10 years SINCE botw and its only it and its assetflip "sequel". I'd rather have 5 OoT-esque games than the same "new" game two times
I don't think I can handle the idea of the OoT remake being 1:1. You can't waste a zelda dev cycle on a 1:1 remake. We're gonna end up with 15 years between BotW and a new original 3D Zelda 🥲
If Mina is as good as people are saying, then I think it’s past time we formally establish the “heavily inspired by Zelda but it mogs every actual Zelda game” genre
Other notable candidates include Tunic, Okami, NGB, every souls game, Hollow Knight + Silksong, Outer Wilds, etc.
@GamesCage_@SCVincent Nope. They were always open about them not needing the money (at the time), which makes the decision to make a kickstarter... iffy in my opinion
@dicebaggery@MightySkrow It was an intentional choice to explain why you couldn't get those pokemon in older games. It shows the devs care about the world building and your immersion in it. And whats the problem with unique evo methods??
@antdude92 It's very forgettable. None of the characters stand out partly due to the artstyle and they're all generic town leaders like in previous games. The only character you really remember is Condé and even for Zelda yetis his design is pretty lame. And the echo mechanic is undercooked
God, the remake will have this exact breath of the wild-style monochrome logo with the slightly damaged letters. I like BotW but that game has done irreversible damage to this franchise if they're even going back and changing the logos to be minimalist

@KirbyCheatFurby Navi gets annoying if you're stuck. I remember the first time I played Ocarina and I didn't know how to get to the fire temple, having Navi be like "hey those clouds over death mountain look pretty bad, eh?" every 20 seconds got on my nerves quick
@younghavok We *were* on OoT 7 and then they decided to switch and since then we've had ONE game (+ a bad asset flip). I know modern dev times aren't botw's fault but still
@Lewchube I'd argue that Gen 1 Kanto is better than Gen 3 Kanto. It conveys 90s Tokyo area much better and doesn't drown everything in trees. I mean, look at how they have massacred Pewter!
