I truly believe the main reason non-disabled people believe they can’t get permanent or disabling effects from COVID is because they’ve never experienced what it’s like to not be able to rely on their body to keep them safe. This will be a rude awakening to many out there.

Ppl are asking why require masks in classrooms if you can get COVID elsewhere (e.g. a bar).

Some faculty/students (or their families) have health concerns. They can’t avoid the classroom like they can other crowded settings.

This is empathy; creating a safe space for everyone.
