DOWN in THE MISSISSIPPI DELTA

I was down there to the little town of Merigold last week to give a talk. I LOVE the Delta and her people. They treated me GREAT!

(The most SOUTHERN place on earth!)

Cotton, crop dusters, bugs!, The River, tamales, Catfish!, that Delta accent - think Shelby Foote, Morgan Freeman, Blues music, it is FLAT!, dusty roads, the place seems EMPTY to city folk and to yankees, Pretty women!, the HEAT in Summer, and the wind in the Winter, Bobby Gentry - Ode to Bille Joe, nice people, Muddy Waters, corn, Ducks!, the Delta State Fighting Okra!, more pretty women, The Delta Blues Museum, The Witch of Yazoo, small black churches out in the cotton fields, Lanterns on the Levee, Cypress trees lining the creeks, The Lady in RED - they woke her up!, the Delta Chinese, W. C. Handy, THE Grammy museum, did I mention it is FLAT?, Robert Johnson and his deal with the devil, If you drive around after midnight on the small roads - you WILL believe the devil could be out there somewhere!, Juke Joints, Pecans, The Teddy Bear at Onward, If you mess with someone's wife - you can die barking like a dog!, Doe's Eat Place (my mouth is drooling), B B King, The Yazoo River, Willie Morris, "Where the Southern crosses the Yellow Dog", FLAT as a pool table!, many of my friends, and even MORE pretty women! Everybody ought to drive it at least once.....and then go BACK! Please take me with you. My bags are already packed! 😀🥸😜😎😎😃

This May, we're raising our voices for mental health in agriculture. Letting the Agriculture Industry know, they don’t have to suffer in silence. Studies show rates are two to three times higher for farmers and ranchers than the general population.

More than likely, there are agricultural workers in your area who are experiencing depression and anxiety disorders due to stress factors like:

- Unpredictable weather conditions
- Fluctuating market prices
- Social isolation
- Long work hours
- Financial burdens

We see the struggles, and we're here to support our community. We're in this together!
