Happy school holidays to all our children and families. We wish you all a safe and restful break and look forward to welcoming you back on Wednesday 4th September. Many thanks for all your kind gifts and thoughtful messages - they mean the world to us.
We hate goodbyes, but they come with lots of happy memories and good wishes for the future. Our thanks go to Ms Grattan who has taken a promotion in a new school and of course a huge good luck goes to our lovely year 6 children. We wish you all the very best in your new schools.
Year 6 put on a fabulous production of Peter Pan last week and we all got to enjoy seeing the children perform with such enthusiasm - what talented performers they all were!
On the Friday of #InternationalWeek, we had a huge offering of dishes brought in by our friends and families to share with everyone. We had everything from Ukrainian liver cake to Welsh cakes and Moldovan placinte to South African bobote. What an incredible feast!
On the Friday of #InternationalWeek, children were invited to wear traditional clothes or colours representing countries that are special to them. The school was certainly awash with a wonderful array of outfits which represent the diversity of our school community.
On the Friday of #InternationalWeek, our school community was treated to a music festival in the school hall with a performance from a professional band organised by @laurabaughmusic - we all had a great time dancing and singing along to the music.
On the Thursday of #InternationalWeek, every year group performed a song with an international theme from their @SingUpTweets music curriculum - everything from a Polish folk song to a Latin canon. There were djembe drums, guitars, ukuleles, glockenspiels and flutes too - wow!
On the Wednesday of #InternationalWeek, @laurabaughmusic, Manager of @royalgreenwich Music Service, ran singing workshops with every year group and brought the school together at the end of the day to perform their different parts of 'Celebration' by Kool & The Gang.
On the Tuesday of #InternationalWeek, the children were treated to performances by a wonderful professional musician playing the recorder and clarinet, 3 amazing opera singers and an exciting eclectic music performance from @ruthvenready.
We all enjoyed a week of special events last week linked to #worldmusicday and who knew that Monday mornings could be such fun when you begin with a live band performance! Our guest band included a pedal steel guitar which gives country music its unique sound. #internationalweek
The sun shone on our Summer Fair last weekend as children and families got to enjoy a vast array of activities and stalls. Well done to the PTA for another incredibly well organised, fun event.
Our gardening club held a sale after school today of a selection of vegetables from our edible garden. Some of our families will be enjoying Eltham potatoes with their dinners tonight - bon appetit! @TfCschoolteam
In DT, year 3 have been learning about bridges and taking on the challenge of making a stable bridge using just paper! As you can see, their bridge was so strong it held 5 bricks!
KS2 braved the summer heat today at Sutcliffe Park and performed energetically in all of their events at Sports day. The team spirit of all the classes was wonderful to see, along with resilience and enthusiasm. Mr Curtis was on hand to cool everyone down when we returned.
Year 5 introduced themselves to their German friends who had sent them letters in English about their favourite things - football and Roblox is very popular in both countries. It was fascinating to hear about the school day in Germany as they finish lessons by 1pm most days!
The Feast of St John the Baptist was marked on Monday 24th June with a special service @stjohnseltham attended by our KS2 children and staff. The service was enjoyed by all with readings, prayers and enthusiastic singing.
