From Monday, the top 40 winners of the last South East Maths Olympiad winners from Enugu will begin an intensive bootcamp unlike anything they have ever experienced.

They will build real drones from start to finish. They will learn how to dismantle and reassemble an entire car while gaining a deep understanding of how every system works. They will also receive hands-on training in advanced robotics and AI.

This will be a three-week intensive program in Enugu, designed to transform these brilliant young minds into a new generation of innovators with real-world, practical skills.

This is the blueprint of the education with relevance we are pushing in the South East.

In 2024, I ran an experiment in Apa-Agatu in Benue State.

I supported some village children there with Nelson Apochi to help them prepare for JAMB using Educare and teaching support. They all did well and are excelling today.

This boy, Oyishima Daniel Adewebo, was one of them. He scored 290 in JAMB and is currently studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Abuja.

He just shared his first-year result, and he got all A’s.

It was my riskiest intervention because, at the time, over 500 people had been murdered in the community by herdsmen.

We have lots of hidden talents in villages that we need to discover and help shine.

Rehabilitate Existing Infrastructure Before Embarking on New Projects

I have consistently advised governments at all levels to prioritise rehabilitating existing infrastructure before embarking on new projects that may also end up abandoned or left unfinished. For expressing this position, I have often been criticised and called all sorts of names. Yet, it remains the most responsible approach to governance.

It is therefore noteworthy that President Bola Tinubu has now cautioned state governors against committing scarce public resources to constructing unnecessary flyovers in areas with little traffic while neglecting more pressing developmental needs.

The President is, in essence, saying what I have always maintained: government must prioritise projects that directly address the immediate needs of the people. I hope those ministers, officials, and supporters who have consistently attacked this position will now direct the same criticism at him.

However, this admonition must also apply to the Federal Government. There are several unrealistic and white-elephant projects being pursued by the current administration, even as much of our critical infrastructure remains in a state of disrepair. Given our present fiscal realities, priority should be given to rehabilitating and completing existing infrastructure rather than embarking on expensive new projects with limited immediate impact.

Across Nigeria, many of our major highways linking commercial centres and food-producing communities have deteriorated into death traps. Neglecting these critical roads while pursuing prestige projects is neither economically prudent nor people-centred.

This philosophy guided my administration as Governor of Anambra State. I prioritised completing viable projects initiated by my predecessors before embarking on new ones. Government is a continuum, and development should never be measured by who starts a project, but by whether it is completed and serves the people.

Leadership is about making the right choices: fixing what is broken, completing what has already been started, and investing limited public resources where they will have the greatest impact on the greatest number of people.

My respect for Peter Obi has doubled.

He did a full one-hour-plus interview with Seun without mentioning Tinubu’s name or discussing Keyamo and the airport saga. He went straight to national issues: making roads safe for motorists, agriculture for all, and improving the economy for everyone.

Peter is their nightmare.

DEMOCRACY IS NOT A GIFT, IT IS A RESPONSIBILITY

A message from Opuda (Alabo) Dumo Lulu-Briggs on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day.

It is another democracy day when we celebrate the sacrifices of our heroes past in the enthronement and sustenance of democracy in our country.

For us in Rivers State, democracy has in the last 27 years, since 1999, impacted us in different ways. It carried both promise and pain, sometimes in the same election cycle.

But democracy is the only system where the fisherman in Bille, the market woman in Mile 3, the farmer in Emohua and the teacher in Bori has just one vote, one voice and one stake. Democracy is not perfect but it remains the best form of government.

On a day like this, we only need to remind ourselves that power belongs to the people. It is a day to remind us that we own Rivers State together - Ikwerre, Ijaw, Ogoni, Etche, Ogba, Ndoki, Ndoni, Omuma, Abua, Ekpeye etc.

Our founding fathers fought for the creation of this state so that we and our children can live freely, vote without fear, speak without threat, and build without being inhibited.

Today, the disappointments and weariness in our people’s voices are loud and I understand it. My answer, and I hope yours too, is not to walk away but to reclaim what belongs to us.

Our forebears fought for it and we must not trade that inheritance for division. We have the responsibility to protect and preserve our state.

Rivers State sits on enormous wealth. Our waterways, our blue economy, our brilliant and restless young people who deserve better. Democracy becomes real when the right to choose, the right to demand accountability, and the right to know are guaranteed.

On this day, I urge us not to give up but to renew our faith in the unity and progress of Rivers State. We will disagree without violence, we will compete without hate, we will protect our state, its people, its unity, its wealth and its future.

Rivers State shall rise again.

Your major priority was to have Peter Obi on the ballot with a very formidable VP. And you have gotten that.

And she started attacking Obi because in the document there were expenses under "Her Excellency."

According to her if Obi didn't recognize First Lady, how manage did the state record expenses under "Her Excellency."
