Last week's @methodsMcr @McrMuseum @BeingHumanFest collaboration certainly left its mark on me. Not sure I've ever learnt so much in 2 hours!
So I wrote a blog which you can read here 👇👇👇
Very happy to share our blog write up of the recent @McrMuseum collaboration with @NjabuloChipangu
This was an important event, proud we could contribute to @BeingHumanFest
There will be more activity including a film by @glasseyedone
But for now: https://t.co/nkl6tSw2Ef
A reminder that objects are living cultures & importance of co-production. Museums have long way to go wrt decolonising, but proud to play small part in this @McrMuseum event - attendees generously shared fascinating stories about objects in use, memories, familial associations.
So humbling and inspiring to hear the stories, memories and associations people have with the @McrMuseum African objects as part our collaboration with the fantastic @NjabuloChipangu as part of @BeingHumanFest
Watch this space for next steps, write up, film & digital exhibition.
So excited for our first @methodsMcr@BeingHumanFest event tomorrow, featuring an object handling session with @NjabuloChipangu at @McrMuseum as part of their decolonising methodology.
🎦We will share more with you in a film & digital exhibition... we'll keep you posted!
Our first event as part of the #BeingHuman2024 festival, invites (by invitation only) members of African diaspora communities to a session which aims to develop new understandings of Manchester Museum’s African collections.
