Out yesterday. Using a translation reporter on a mini-tn5 transposon, and high freq. mutagenesis, we looked at translation on whole genome scale independently of genome annotation. https://t.co/BeP1g3ERqN
We have a new postdoc position coming soon :D. To help tease apart the cellular functions of lipid transporters involved in bacterial cell envelope homeostasis... using bacterial genetics, cell biology, and biochemistry. Reach out if you are interested and please RT!
Sharing a very short paper that I wanted to write up for many years which showed biochemical evidence that UndP sequestered with altered sugar structures are trapped at the cystosolic face of the membrane due to ineffective Wzx activity.

The ever amazing @art_egorov in our group has made a new visualisation tool for comparative genomics. Makes particularly beautiful images of phages, plasmids, other MGEs or regions of prokaryotic genomes 😍 https://t.co/Vk8FpS3NGX
Our newest open access review is online.....find out about the pipeline of antibacterial candidates with new MOA

...some prophage encoded genes (not defences) under standard LB conditions, despite the prophage being cryptic and unable to propagate... kind of suggests some of their genes have been co-opted for host biology (who knows🤷♀️)
- We detected ~2-3 mini proteins encoded within rRNA...

@GL_Isom I actually think the reviewers were mostly fair enough and maybe the problem is my framing. But it does feel like "your CV is fine but you need to reinvent yourself"
My first paper from @JohnInnesCentre with @Tung_BK_Le is now out! 😃If you like bacteria and mobile genetic elements, consider reading our review on wonderfully weird #genetransferagents below👇https://t.co/dkb6mSfAvN
