The Richmond Times-Dispatch has announced it will move its newsroom from downtown to its printing press in Hanover County in early 2025. The Times-Dispatch has been in the city for more than 150 years, and we find this news troubling for employees, readers and the community.

No word - yet - where news, mrkting folks will go. Maybe Hanover plant?
Quitting #Rva after generations there would cut literal, figurative bond w/ our core audience.
Em does a phenomenal job covering the city for the RTD. Despite its loss of staff, the Times-Dispatch still has the broadest and deepest coverage in town.
I took over as the city reporter in January 2023. In that year, the RTD published roughly 50 city council-related stories.
