@BBCBreaking@SkintDad Not when large organisations require a work history for entry level jobs failing to account for the fact that the law changed requiring young people to remain in education until 18. When there are also no part time jobs to fit around their education either!
@MsRobinHosking When at an event and people sat on shoulders and then they bring banners the size of bedsheets above head height it’s awful as a shorter person and impossible as a wheelchair user to see anything at all. You can move around a taller person mostly
@MikScarlet@MotabilityOps I guess right to family life is a misnomer for disabled folk, my son and daughter whilst they are adults still live at home. We’d have to take two cars to go out together. I’d have to drive myself everywhere, not fit for purpose… weighing other options atm
@MikScarlet@MotabilityOps Currently in the thick of this the choice is a farce for those with wheelchairs and power chairs. Just got told by the adaptations team that my son is no longer a passenger as he is 18! So they can insist on folding the back seat to accommodate my powerchair and hoist
@Hossylass@The_TUC So rather than the @The_TUC make ignorant statements about reforming welfare such as PIP how about they deal with the reasons people leave work through lack of adequate workplace support for those with disability and chronic health.
@MikScarlet Flown just the once with a basic manual chair, they managed to smash the armrest. Worries me taking my current ones, have managed to do cruise holidays from UK since I’ve been working which is ok but the way people behave at the lifts onboard is atrocious.
@MikScarlet I see so many vibrant folk with mobility equipment, there’s some fantastic individuals expressing themselves with their appearance and their mobility aids. I think it’s fab, bold, visible that’s a great thing. I just have a dangly unicorn toy on mine, think I need to step it up
@MikScarlet My manual one is blue with pink bits, I have Pink crutches. There the right tools for the job, I don’t care what others think anymore. If I like it it’s fine. Speaks more about internal ableism than lack of ‘cool points’ I guess
Son is complaining and justifiably so that although he has completed all of his work for his BTEC course with no exam he still has to attend class and sit in silence with nothing to do! Until he finishes college in a couple of weeks. Madness
@MsRobinHosking So glad tree pollen has declined, I’m lucky not to have severe reactions to grass pollen usually but you won’t find me near any bright yellow fields or common Broom, I’d like to keep my skin
@marksandspencer I’ve sent them back, I’ll buy more elsewhere… I’m not sharing all that detail they still won’t fit like they should. @marksandspencer need to sort the accuracy/consistency of their sizing measurements the same product should fit the same
The bags charities post through my door on an almost daily basis are such a waste. Another today, never see anyone collecting items even when neighbours put things out.
@JeremyVineOn5 When you’re in for surgery, pre-op done, nil by mouth all night and from 7am till 4pm left waiting in 24c room then they cancel your appointment and send you home. Where do those figures get recorded? Is that less than 24hours notice too. Numbers no good with no patient context
@JeremyVineOn5 There may also be medical reasons for cancelling with less than 24hours notice. Might have an infection or other illness, not been able to follow pre-op instructions correctly.
@JeremyVineOn5 No…I’ve cancelled non-surgical appointments then received messages saying I’d not attended. I once missed an appointment (pre-NHSapp) because they’d randomly sent letters to an address I’d not lived for 10yrs, or Royal Mail was slow delivering
