Pride Month is a time to celebrate love, identity, & diversity within our communities!
As we celebrate, it is also important to recognize the strength & resilience of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, while acknowledging the disproportionate & systemic violence many continue to face.
May is Sexual Violence Prevention Month
As the month comes to an end it's important to remember the importance of raising awareness, supporting survivors & recognizing sexual violence as a gendered societal issue. Ending sexual violence is a shared responsibility.
The Supreme Court of Canada has recognized a new tort of intimate partner violence, allowing survivors to sue for damages related to coercive & controlling behaviour.
This is a monumental moment for survivors, as well as gender equity & justice in Canada
