Claude Fable 5 is Anthropic's first "Mythos class" model a full tier above Opus. Same underlying model as Claude Mythos 5, but Fable 5 ships with safet classifiers so it's safe for the public Mythos 5 stays locked to vetted cybersecurity and biomedical Partners.

Here's the part people miss, this isn't just "a smarter chatbot." Fable 5 is built for long-horizon autonomy it can run goal directed work for hours or days without losing the thread.

One enterprise customer used it to migrate a 50M line codebase in a single day. It beats Opus 4.8 on spreadsheet workflows 25-30% faster, with fewer turns. It also finished a full Game Boy RPG using nothing but the screen no maps, no helper tools. That's not autocomplete. That's sustained visual reasoning and planning.

The safety architecture is the real story though, Instead of a flat refusal, Fable 5 runs classifiers on cybersecurity, biology/chemistry, and model-distillation requests. When one fires, it silently hands the request to Opus 4.8 instead, you still get a real answer just from a slightly less capable model.

That happens in under 5% of sessions. Anthropic is betting that frontier capability and public safety aren't mutually exclusive, and this is the first real test of that bet at scale.

Rollout wasn't clean, either, it was Launched June 9, and Suspended worldwide June 12 over a U.S. export control directive. It was Restored on July 1 once the controls lifted. For three weeks it wasn't accessible to anyone.

Here is my take, if you're building anything transactional or high volume, stick with Sonnet it's faster and cheaper, and the gap won't matter. But if a task is failing or shallow on Sonnet, don't assume AI can't do it. Try Fable 5 before you give up on it. That's the actual signal to route on, not hype.

In traditional prediction market: you buy YES at 41 cents. If you win, you collect $1. That's your ceiling, Always. Locked at entry.
