@Naivedo@Victorevans2026 Racism is about prejudice or discrimination based on race, not simply whether someone makes an offensive joke.
A joke doesn't automatically make someone racist, and it doesn't cross the line simply because you personally find it offensive. Context and intent matter.
@Naivedo@Victorevans2026 If you genuinely think racism is a massive problem in WoW, you're exaggerating the issue. I seriously doubt that even 1% of the player base engages in actual racist behaviour. Being offended by a character name or a provocative joke doesn't automatically make someone a racist.
We're extending this issue way beyond what it needs to be. People shouldn't be banned simply because someone else finds their name offensive. And yes, I believe Asmongold and his community are being specifically targeted for their political views, especially when names from one side get banned while comparable names from the left appear to be tolerated. The rules should apply equally to everyone.
If Olympus really has a higher % ban rate, I'd want to know how many of those bans are actually for misconduct versus politically controversial names.
We've already seen names like ILLEGAL MIGRANT and GAYS FOR TRUMP banned on Asmongold's streams. Meanwhile, what about progressive names and slogans like TRANS RIGHTS, TRANS KIDS, or other LGBTQ+ political statements? Are those being treated the same way?
If one side's political names get banned while the other side's are allowed, then it's fair to question whether the rules are being applied consistently.
You can't just point at a ban rate and blame an entire guild without looking at what people are actually being banned for.
I don't believe in banning speech simply because someone considers it hateful or offensive. But I do draw a line at speech that explicitly advocates violence against people. There's a difference between expressing a controversial opinion and calling for people to be harmed or killed.
You keep saying the purpose is to start fights, but if that's the case, why give them the reaction they're looking for? And since when does every character name have to fit WoW lore? People have been making joke names and trolling in online games for decades.
Isn't that exactly why there's a dedicated RP ruleset server, for people who want a more immersive, lore-friendly experience? Not everyone plays the game for the same reasons.
I couldn't care less if someone names their character LOVE ICE, DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS, or GAYS FOR TRUMP.
But names like HITLER WAS RIGHT, KILL ALL GAYS, or KILL ALL JEWS are explicitly promote violence against people. Those are the kinds of names that should be banned.
If someone wants to write something you consider rage bait, then let them. If a name or a few words are enough to get you butthurt, right-click the player, put them on Ignore, and move on. Stop getting offended over funny character names or words.
You chose to let it bother you, so take some responsibility for your own reaction instead of expecting everyone else to change to suit your sensibilities.
Marco Rubio just issued an existential warning about the future of Western Civilization
โThe course we take will determine whether the West maintains its place at the head of the world or resigns itself to a future of atrophy, servitude, and decline.โ
โWe will either choose to act now or lose the choice to act at all.โ
The West is at a crossroads โ preserve the civilization that built the modern world or watch it decline.
