@jonharris1989 His ability to remain steadfast and level headed in much distress. A pastor and a hospital chaplain, he ministers to people in their deepest hardships with kindness and respect. It blesses me.
This is shameful. Savannah was punched in the face in broad daylight, on camera, and needed stitches. Her assailant said herself it was out of anger against Savannah and her pro-life stance. There must be accountability.
Charlie Kirk, Voddie Baucham, John MacArthur, Phil Robertson, James Dobson. God has added some incredible titans to heaven’s roster this year. But, man, what a loss for us
@JonnyRoot_ Very impressed, obviously it has its creative liberties but it really has assisted and not distracted in my study of 1 Samuel. Also helpful when sinful humans play sinful humans and not divine beings.
Morning is coming. With new life.
“You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy!
For your dew is a dew of light,
and the earth will give birth to the dead.” Isaiah 26:19
Instead of sharing the horrific, vile, & heart-stopping video of Charlie Kirk being shot, I urge you to share images of his beautiful family whose worst nightmare has come true.
Every kid deserves a dad.
Every wife deserves a husband.
Every American needs Charlie Kirk.
Just told a friend that @charliekirk11 is probably singularly responsible for translating conservative values to the emerging generation. He made conservatism intelligible and relatable to a younger generation. He dethroned the liberal default presumed in young minds. A generational builder whose crater of impact is nearly impossible to comprehend at only 31.
Fuller Seminary, long associated with the likes of Billy Graham and Carl Henry, has fallen. “Agree to disagree” where Scripture is clear is the posture of spineless surrender. If you want a seminary where Scripture is the unapologetic authority, might I recommend @SBTS.
Furthermore, as an ethics professor, what’s untenable is the irreconcilable moral conflict that Fuller has set itself on. Either the Bible teaches a sexual ethic that is for our good, or it doesn’t. Neither Scripture nor society allow for such a negotiated settlement that their “Third Way” solution aims for. Fuller’s position is as incoherent as it is schismatic and biblically unfaithful.
Also, if churches can't have youth group because "it's not in the Bible," neither can churches have Sunday School (or whatever it's called), weekly prayer meeting, choir, men's ministry, or women's Bible study cause none of these are explicitly mandated by the New Testament.
I am for any campaign that brings people to the gospel, but, again, He Gets Us misses the mark. There is nothing at all in their ads about who Christ is or why we need Him. It’s not even remotely implied. If anything, an unbeliever walks away feeling affirmed that Jesus is, at most, his buddy who exists to cheer him on.
That said, God can use anything, and I have always prayed hearts would be softened even through imperfect means.
A church in Western NC still holds church tomorrow even after being flooded and nearly destroyed (physically).
May this preach to us. ALWAYS MEET. Never cancel again. And warn brothers who see it fit to cancel worship services because Sunday lands on holidays. Learn and change.
We must pray constantly for His enabling grace to say no to temptation, of choosing to take all practical steps to avoid known areas of temptation and flee from those that surprise us.
I shared this word from the heart with the @SBTS and @BoyceCollege family at the end of chapel service today.
Many have reached out after its public circulation, so I am sharing it as well. I hope you find it helpful.
@shane_pruitt78 My mom happens to be my favorite pastor's wife, celebrating 20 years of pastoral ministry this month. I am thankful for her unwavering devotion to our local church, while working days and nights (literally). Appreciate this shout out, much needed!
Today is a great day to pray for your pastor's wife. Often, she can be the most overlooked person in the church.
She serves in ministry, bears all the same burdens that he bears, may have a job, and also tends to manage a lot of the things at home.
She is a gift to the Church.
John MacArthur’s recent advice to young men preparing for ministry:
“You have to get out of your mind the idea that they serve you. You serve them. You’re not a celebrity. You’re not the star of the show. It’s not about you. It’s not about being in the spotlight. It’s not about being clever. It’s not about your ingenuity and your wardrobe and your schtick. It’s how effectively, powerfully, consistently, and prayerfully can you serve your congregation by feeding the flock of God, and all the dividends come out of that.”
What a tremendous model of shepherding MacArthur has provided through his life and teaching.
Nothing wrong with loving your pets, but an *obsession* with pets is often a result of replacing the biological urge to nurture children with caring for a dog
