JUDGE: You're going to say living in Stoke is a punishment in itself are you?
COUNSEL: No
JUDGE: Oh sorry, I misunderstood

BREAKING: An attempt by UK academics to sue the directors of the #USS pension scheme for mis-management of the giant university sector fund has been dismissed by the High Court.

I joined #USS 8 years ago. Was told I'd get 17k a year in retirement-not rich but comfortable. These cuts plus inflation mean by the time I'm 80 I'll get 9k a year. I've just been told my heating bill will be 3k this year. I'm not sure people realise just how catastrophic this is

BREAKING: The Universities Superannuation Scheme Joint Negotiating Committee has today formally voted to implement cuts to future #pension benefits for tens of thousands of UK university sector staff.
NEW: The deficit at the UK's largest private-sector pension scheme, the #USS, has been slashed from £14bn in March 2020, to £2.9bn at the end of January this year, as the schemne's assets recovered to pre-pandemic levels. #UUK#UCU
