This response to @SamPKCollins is disturbing on so many levels- especially as a social studies teacher. It fails basic civics.
1. We are not a dictatorship, despite mayoral control of schools. DC Council, SBOE etc... are also "authorized" to do politics
2.@WTUTeacher & its President are "authorized" to do politics
3. Every teacher knows they have a responsibility to address the crisis with their students and make sure they feel safe. Pretending all is normal will not be a comfort to students and families. @maustermuhle@tomsherwood
Complying in advance with a bill like this — which has zero co-sponsors, and might never even have a hearing much less pass — sends a message to Clyde and his allies that all they need to do is make an empty threat and we'll comply.
That's an incredibly bad position to take.
