Incredibly honored to be elected as one of three councillors for North Bermondsey, and so excited to represent everyone from the Four Squares to Shad Thames alongside the wonderful @HamishMcCallum and @RachelBentleyNB
The Soho Society is objecting to *every* new bar/restaurant licence in what is supposed to be the centre of London’s nightlife. More planning/licensing insanity.
I asked them to come on my Sunday LBC show: "We will absolutely not be taking questions from journalists". Of course not.

Official: @SouthwarkGP and Southwark Liberal Democrats have formed a Joint Administration to run Southwark Council.
Together they will make Southwark more affordable, greener and safer, and fix housing for tenants and leaseholders.
I have severe concerns about the incoming Coalition in Southwark and whether it will focus on community safety and housing needs. I suspect it’ll McCrash and burn. Time will tell.
@SouthwarkGP and Southwark Liberal Democrats intend to form a Joint Administration, which will be voted on at this evening’s Annual Meeting of the Council
The Southwark Green Party and Southwark Liberal Democrats have confirmed that they intend to form a joint administration to run the borough. The council's annual meeting take place tonight in Tooley Street.
@maxshillam Having sat on the planning committee that gave a judgement (although it had already been appealed), I'd certainly come in with your mindset, but was changed by Berkeley's attitude on the night. It was just clear that there was very little intention of honoring their promises
@maxshillam I do think it's interesting to think whether we would be having this conversation if the applicant had committed to 35%. But I guess that's a difference in the weight given to social housing provision by elected officials versus planning policy itself.
The Inspector literally says "even with 35% affordable housing as initially proposed in the planning application process...I would still have found that the level of harm in this case would not be overridden."
I'm normally with the YIMBYs but please make your point correctly.
OMG the discourse on this from people who've not actually read the verdict from the inspector. They would have upheld their concerns about the impact on the Conservation Area, regardless of a policy compliant affordable housing offer. Anyone arguing otherwise just isn't read up.
📣 Southwark Council welcomes news that plans by Berkeley Homes for the Aylesham Centre have been rejected.
Berkeley Homes proposed to build 867 homes, including 77 affordable homes, at the site in Peckham alongside retail, leisure and commercial space.
Today a planning inspector has dismissed an appeal by Berkeley Homes, saying “benefits do not outweigh the harm to the relevant designated heritage assets important to the area”.
Cllr Sarah King, Leader of Southwark Council, said: “This is a great day for Peckham and we welcome the planning inspector’s decision to dismiss Berkeley Homes’s appeal for the Aylesham Centre.
“I’d like to personally thank the community who spoke loud and clearly about their concerns.
“We shared those concerns and strongly argued at the public inquiry that the scheme was poorly designed and our position has been vindicated.
“We will read the appeal in detail and carefully consider our next steps.”
Ed Davey thinks that there's not much that can be done about the Liberal Democrats losing votes to the Greens in urban areas.
This is utterly wrong - and a sign of something gone badly wrong that he is saying this.
I am beyond proud to be a LibDem! I massively thank @EdwardJDavey for his support on this, and for this showing especially that the @LibDems are here in support of trans rights!
