โAMR experts should use the language that laymen people can understand when designing #AMR communication strategies or spreading information on #AMR,โ notes Zambia Minister or Health @SylviaTMasebo during the ongoing conference on #AMR
@Nobertkuwana @munyati01 The Animal Health Act requires that movement of animals be done under a Veterinary permit.Permits are not issued to sick animals. Its a criminal offense to move the cattle from the place where its kept & you known its infected with a disease or suspects its infected

@basera_john This is a welcome move.Mobility of Ministry of Agriculture extension staff is key to farmer outreach and service provision. This will go a long way in supporting the personnel who had to walk long distances to provide key service.
@chabata62 @nickmangwana@PoschyRue If any high impact disease is detected in quarantine it means loss if free status for the nation ,and economic impact outweigh benefits of quarantine. If the disease escapes from quarantine, the whole poultry industry can suffer .Let's talk humane killing here
@Dr_Anxie@TinoChinyoka@nickmangwana The cost of supervision illegal imports are not justifiable. And if any high impact disease is picked,it means loss of disease free status of whole nation and exports will stop.We are also exporting .The story is humane killing not entry of chicks
@Dr_Anxie@TinoChinyoka@nickmangwana Animal welfare is the issue here.Quarantine, donating is out ,disease risk is high with no knowledge of origin and health status of farm of origin, biosecurity measures etc.We don't just depend on end product checks for chicks.Think of the impact on whole poultry industry.
@mapipimakuru@nickmangwana Its not about the duty but possible risk of introducing disease by bringing in un inspected and uncertified https://t.co/Rv2tBdS5xq can cost the whole poultry industry.Immediate disposal was the best ,but done humanely by recommended methods such as gassing then burning.
@tinashemusere@nickmangwana Humane slaughter was supposed to be the immediate animal disease risk mitigation measure.Imports of chicks are currently not being allowed due to a disease embargo .Possible economic Impact of transporting disease into Zim far outweigh gains of donating chicks .
