The so-called Cybercrime Law isn’t about safety it’s about control. It hands William Ruto the ultimate power over information. And when you control information, you control thought. You can decide who is right, who is wrong, who speaks, and who disappears into silence.

Let’s be clear: this law is a direct attack on the Constitution. Article 33 guarantees our freedom of expression. Article 34 protects the media from state interference. Yet this law criminalizes what the government feels is “false,” “misleading,” or “offensive.” That’s not justice that’s dictatorship in legal clothing.

If Raila Odinga were alive today, he would never stand for this. He fought for the voice of the people for the right to question, to demand, to speak truth to power.

This law spits on everything he and others suffered for. History is repeating itself.

We saw it under Moi a regime that survived because it controlled the airwaves. KBC was not just a broadcaster; it was the voice of oppression, telling Kenyans only what the state allowed.

The difference now is that Ruto doesn’t need radio towers he has algorithms, cyber police, and a law that lets him patrol your timelines.

By capturing social media, Ruto is building a digital KBC one where fear replaces freedom and silence becomes safety.

But we must refuse. Because every time a government tells you it’s controlling speech “for your own good,” it’s really building the bars of your next prison.
Freedom dies slowly first in whispers, then in laws, then in silence.

We cannot afford that silence again.

I had to analyze the 8 laws signed by President William Ruto. Find your reason down here 👇 to consider if he'll leave through elections or other means.

1. Cybercrime Law gives authorities the power to decide what is 'offensive' or 'cause fear of violence'. Gov't can delete your accounts without trial or fine you 20m for a post deemed offensive. Or jail you for 10 years! #RejectCybercrimeLaw #RutoMustGo

2. The government can now sell state companies (like KPC, sugar companies, KCC) without consulting the parliament. Hapa ni vitu kama kina KPC, JKIA, KICC and such. Guess who'll buy them?

2. Introduction of fees and rules for Crypto and virtual assets trading. KRA will now be peeping into your Binance accounts to enforce rules and taxes. Watu wa payoneer na paypal pia ni kama mmefikiwa. #RutoMustGo

3. New air travel fees - budget travellers by air to pay more, coz wako na doh according to Githinji wa Gichini.

6. The two land amendment bills - hapa ndo kuna maneno tena: Govt has more control now on reallocation of land for 'public use', with minimal oversight. Politically connected individuals, state projects and big land owners are set to benefit in the name of 'development', where mall scale farmers risk losing land to vague govt-backed projects.

By tweaking powers of the National Land Commission, these laws sneak centralized control to the government - where influencing the outcome of disputes might happen (as it always happens). With this in play, past fraudulent land acquisition might now be legalized - rudia hapo - Everyone you know who has grabbed land might now be the 'genuine owner' - this law has thrown that lifeline.

Small urban landowners are to face evictions if big developers push in. Remember the frenzy about freehold land becoming taxable? Now it will be - Kiambu and areas developing fast, cities etc sijui mtafanya nini.
