Maria Mitchell is notably known for being one of America’s first women astronomers. In 1878 she led a team of all women science students, known as “the Vassar Girls,” to research the great solar eclipse of the 19th century. Mitchell was one of the earliest advocates for equal pay in STEM and proponents of women's higher education. #SolarEclipse2024 #solareclipse #Eclipse2024 #WomenInSTEM #DidYouKnow

Dr. Roche presented her enlightening dissertational research on social structural sorting in U.S. schools and was followed by a Q&A with the two panelists. We so very much enjoyed talking about their work in education and loved meeting these two amazing Georgians!
We had our GBM with Dr. Sarah Roche and @Leslie Grant. Dr. Sarah Roche is a professor at Emory College of Arts and Sciences and is part of the Community Building and Social Change minor program. Leslie Grant is a former member of the Atlanta Public School Board.
Last week, we received a special visit and presentation from Rick Rieder, a key supporter and donor of GradGen! He presented on the educational disparities across the nation and the action he has personally taken to repair these inequities. Thank you for coming and see you soon!
We had a GBM last Wednesday and met with the Emory branches of Matriculate and QuestBridge to have a workshop on K-12 outreach. We had some truly insightful conversations on what inspires us to continue this work and how giving back to the community gives back to us just as much!
We are so excited to host a collaboration event with Emory @QuestBridge and Emory @MatriculateOrg to discuss our differing approaches to K-12 outreach. If you have any questions or would like to attend please scan the RSVP QR code below! (Free dinner will be provided 👀)
