I don’t think you guys understand who you’re dealing with. Just because many Yorùbá people have forgotten who they are does not mean the historical record has disappeared.

None of the headwraps in those photos is gèlè. The third comes closest, and even that resembles the auto-gèlè style that became popular in the 2000s.

Again, Yorùbá women have documented evidence of gèlè dating back to the 1800s. You’re going to have to comb the internet a little harder than that.

And one thing you certainly cannot claim is that you got your “ichafu” from Vietnamese women.

So, by all means, keep digging.
