No marginalized family should be blocked from options/resources that allow them to self determine their children's education. Wealthy people will always have choices, programs or not. But blocking programs that allow those who otherwise wouldn't have the choice is oppressive.
@GovernorHobbs Remember when thousands of ESA student’s data (including funding amounts and categories of disability) was sent over to SOS under Sup Hoffman & parents were told by feds it wasn’t a FERPA violation & AG refused to investigate. No one held accountable.
But NOW it’s a big deal?
I’m so happy to see that @GovernorHobbs supports the students and families that are on the ESA program and wants to make sure the program is safe for us in the future. @AZBethLewis and @arizona_sos doxxed the families in 2020 when the prior administration handed them 7000 names, addresses and diagnoses of students. Again thank you @GovernorHobbs for supporting #EducationForAll
@azedschools@krismayes So ... Someone thought ESA was income based? ESA funds weren't being used to go to Disney or build a deluxe court in someone's yard. The card doesn't work that way. The poster was bitter that families using ESA are allowed to buy nice things w/their own income. AG? Really?
@RebeccaGarelli @azedschools@krismayes IF any of this was purchased with ESA funds, which is a gross assumption based on no facts whatsoever, it would have been on Kathy Hoffman's ESA administration. I get it though, calendars can be hard.
@azedschools@krismayes This tweet needs to be deleted, the threat retracted, and policy on when, how, and why referrals to the AZAG are done. Then, the proper procedure for any public disclosure of any referral needs to be made EXPLICITLY clear. This retweet is unprofessional and unacceptable.
@azedschools@krismayes It's a prejudiced and unserious assumption. Should families that use ESA be living in squalid frugality? Should ESA families expect to be referred to the AZAG for taking a vacation?
This solicitation for personal info and threat to refer to the AG is wildly inappropriate. /3
#SchoolChoice expansion isn't enough. Families need resources and support to navigate implementation and the parental role in education. Should navigators be funded? Of course. Are those of us already doing the work supported by our friends in the movement? Not even close. #truth
My oldest attended public district schools. My 3 youngest have never stepped foot in a public classroom.
I knew better.
I am proud to say that 75% of my children have no prior public school enrollment.
Fooled me once, but never again.
