In D.C. today to interview a convert to Catholicism! (He also has some political responsibilities.) Reply with any questions you have for my mystery guest on religion, politics, or anything else. 🇺🇸
This is the part of American history we no longer teach in our schools. George Washington's FIRST order as commander of the military is going to blow your mind 👇
“You do well to wish to learn our arts and ways of life, and above all, the religion of Jesus Christ. These will make you a greater and happier people than you are.”
-George Washington
Human secularists are pretty slimy in general but one of the areas where they really show their true colors is in how they use semantics so they can legally force their worldview onto others. They do this by saying only religion can't be taught or forced onto others. If you think about it, that's the game.
Creationism? That's religion.
Evolution? That's science.
Theism? Religion.
Atheism? That's neutral.
If you teach your children what you believe to be true, it's indoctrination. But when a secularist teaches your children what THEY believe, that's education.
This is a rigged game.
The truth is this: everyone has a worldview. Everyone has a philosophy and values they adhere to. There's no such thing as "neutral" or "default."
Just because you don't call your system of beliefs a religion, that doesn't mean it isn't a religion. And even if it wasn't, that doesn't mean you now have the right to push your worldview on everyone else because it's "not a religion."
To drive this point home imagine a different secular system pulling this card, let's say fascists... Should fascists get free reign to teach children their values in school and legislate their morality into law because they "aren't religious?"
When you go back and look, who were the 2 elected officials most responsible for exposing the communist infiltration of the US govt?
Senator Joseph McCarthy
Congressman Richard Nixon
Are you getting it yet?
🪨🔑 “Peter Means Rock” — The Pebble Argument Had A Nice Run
Apparently Jesus changed Simon’s name to Rock, built something on “this rock,” gave him the keys, and then some folks said:
“Could be unrelated.”
Bold strategy.
The old “Petros means little stone / Petra means big rock” argument sounds clever until you actually slow down and read the passage.
Jesus was speaking Aramaic.
The word is rock.
Not pebble.
Not tiny stone.
Not “Simon Evan.”
Rock.
And even if you stay in the Greek, the argument still doesn’t work. Petra is feminine, so when it becomes a man’s name, it gets masculinized as Petros. That is not Jesus downgrading Peter. That is grammar.
If Matthew wanted “pebble,” he had other words available.
He did not use them.
And here’s the funny part: this is not just a Catholic reading.
Plenty of Protestant scholars have admitted that Peter himself is the rock in Matthew 16, even if they disagree with Catholics about what that means later.
Here’s a roundup:

But the bigger point is the structure of the scene.
Jesus does not just give Peter a compliment.
He blesses him.
He explains the blessing.
He names him Rock.
He explains the rock.
He gives him keys.
He explains the authority.
Blessing, reason, reason.
Name, foundation, gates.
Keys, authority, heaven.
That is a lot of holy weight.
Yes, Christ is the Builder.
Yes, Christ is the King.
Yes, Peter’s confession matters.
Yes, the faith Peter confesses is rock-solid.
The Catekizm can allow for that.
But Scripture does not make Peter vanish to save your theology.
This is not either-or.
It is Catholic both-and.
Christ is the foundation, but Christ also appoints a steward.
Christ is the King, but Christ also gives keys.
Christ is the Head, but Christ also founds a visible Church.
And when the New Testament repeatedly treats Peter like the leed apostle, maybe the rock is not your preferred abstraction.
Maybe it is Peter.
Weird, I know.
🎶 “Peter Means Rock” — a snarky catechetical track for Catholics, converts, Scripture nerds, apologetics folks, and anyone who has ever heard “Petros means little stone” said with absolute confidence.

Peter’s Barque is a catechetical musical project by Justin West. He’s a catechist, not a musician. The music is created principally through digital means, and the art is AI — but the words, heart, and soul are still him.

Hello Mr. Kristol,
The verse you cite is from Leviticus, right alongside the passages on same-sex relations that you so readily dismiss.
But setting that aside, you're misreading the historical context. Leviticus 19:33–34 was written for Israel while the Hebrews were in the wilderness after the Exodus. There was no modern nation-state with fixed borders or an immigration system. Israel was a covenant community, not a country defined by territorial boundaries.
A "sojourner" wasn't simply someone standing inside an invisible border. A sojourner was a foreigner living among Israel who accepted Israel's civil order and lived under its laws. That's why the same Torah you hijack says there should be "one law for the native and for the sojourner." The defining feature wasn't physical location... it was membership in, and submission to, the covenant community.
Using Leviticus 19:33–34 as an argument against modern immigration enforcement ignores the historical and legal context in which the passage was written.
Prior to 9/11 US officials stated Hezbollah was responsible for more deaths of United States citizens than any other terrorist organization.
When I see supposed Americans on here shilling openly for Hezbollah because of their rabid Jew hatred, I’m smart enough to realize that there’s something very wrong happening in America.
