-cost of medication discussed, not worth cost
hot of the presses! data from @EndHepCMA -directed qualitative research on barriers to #hcv treatment in MA for PWUDs (n=53):
external barriers: stigma, misconceptions around #hcv and treatment eligibility
internal: feeling unworthy of care
42/53 experienced societal stigma around their substance use
15 of these felt stigmatized specifically around their #hcv status
broadly negative experiences with healthcare systems, especially hospitals
Results from MA health center survey on #hcv screening practices, in collab with @MassLeague :
80% of respondents have a designated navigator to champion HCV efforts
60% offer specific HIV and HCV screening services
Despite this overall screening rates remain low
