The epidemic is not about consumption it’s about opioid deaths almost entirely from illicitly manufactured fentanyl.

Many countries, like Mexico, don’t even track opioid consumption. They just sell OTC.

Once you actually break down the number of overdose deaths from Rx opioids alone without other contributory drugs (rx/illicit) annually it's more around 5000 or less deaths from Rx Opioids alone.. Doesn't seem as scary as 600k right?? #TwitteRx

What the media likes to do when discussing the opioid crisis is use big inflated numbers in order to paint a particular narrative.. Opioids have NOT killed 600k Americans.. These numbers refer to drug overdose deaths in general from all drug categories..
