Today I have met Lucy, Mark and Katie, Henry Nowak’s mother, father and stepmother. Their courage is extraordinary.
They have endured the most appalling loss, it is a life sentence for them.
They have also faced the agonising decision to release the harrowing body-worn camera footage, knowing how painful it would be and how strongly people would react. They did so because they want truth, accountability and change.
They have asked that we work across political parties and religions to rebuild trust in the police. That trust has been broken because of what happened, and I agree with them on that.
We must also be prepared to examine, carefully and seriously, religious practices or exemptions that permit the carrying of dangerous weapons in public, and other activities that are not conducive to the public good. We also need to examine where the law needs to change.
Henry’s family do not want anger to tear communities apart. They are a family who have friends across faith and race, and so did Henry. His family want his memory to help bring our society together.
Everyone knows I have strong views about how we should deal with equality under the law. What the family agreed with me on is that we need to bring common sense back, and that is what we should all be fighting for.
I promised the family that we will work to ensure there is a positive legacy for Henry out of this tragedy.
That is my focus now.
@jimmycarr Love all these comments and agree with so many of them. So many moving parts to this. One life though and people ultimately do what matters to them and thats very individual. We dont know why he had an affair for 15 years or why she tolerated it. Just hope they can all be kind.

Keir Starmer’s speech was sad to watch. With so many resets, even his reset button needs a reset.
But I do not take pleasure in watching the Prime Minister flounder. The country needs leadership, not another speech from a man who clearly knows something has gone badly wrong, but still can't explain why.
This is Labour’s real problem. It is not just Starmer - all the pretenders jostling for his job do not have the answers either, because they all believe the same things: more welfare, more state control, more borrowing, more regulation. They are busy arguing over who should drive the car, but the truth is they are all heading in the wrong direction. They have no vision for the future.
What we need is to get Britain working again. That is why I have proposed an alternative King’s Speech with a a clear plan to reward effort, cut the cost of government, secure our borders, rebuild industry and back families who do the right thing.
If Labour are serious about fixing the country they could do all of this tomorrow. Whether they have the bravery or the common sense to do that is a different matter.
A thought on the Campbells. Anyone with a child of an age to be affected by the gender cult will know how difficult it is to resist.
My daughter was furious with me for my resolute pushback. She screamed in rage and anguish when I contradicted the mantras she was receiving from school and Tic Tok. She had no friends who were not captured, and nor did I among the mums.
It was extremely difficult to hold the line, and she hated me with every fibre of her being for quite some time.
All I had were two lifelines: first, my own conviction that I was protecting her and the truth about biological sex was a red line I would never cross. It was the only thing I broke my anonymity for - going into the school to make sure the Head understood the law and that there would be consequences if I saw gender ideology appearing in the curriculum or affecting sports and facilities. Parents in this position will know how lonely and frightening a stance this was four or five years ago.
Second - the example of parents on here who never softened their position though they would have been under pressure from all sides. The public spotlight on Graham Linehan makes his steadfastness in this regard particularly exemplary.
Being viscerally hated by your child is no joke. It strikes at your core as a parent. I now think the ability to withstand that when the chips are down is what actually makes you a parent.
Watching Grace Campbell clutch that cushion and contort while parroting that aggressive man's insults should horrify anyone that truly loves her.
On day 1 of my high school history class, our professor got up and said
You are 15 or 16 years old. 200 years ago people your age were married, planted crops, had children, and built a cabin by winter. You can do your homework. The bar set for you historically is embarrassingly low. You are not dealing with regional famine or plague. You do not have to save your family from marauders or go into battle to destroy your enemies. You have to sit down and learn from someone who cares about you in a safe, air-conditioned room. You have no excuses.
How I miss Rik Mayall 😥💕
For all you YOUNGSTERS out there. Just take 2mins to listen to his present for you. I wish he was here to tell you face to face 😥 #OneByOne
5 mantras for life 👇👇👇👇👇👇
This is the most satisfying news you’ll hear today !
Do you remember when a group of boys, strangers to each other, formed a human chain to save a dog from fast flowing water?
Today, local authorities unveiled a “Unity Statue” at the same place to celebrate human unity.
In Brazil, it is tradition that the first piece of cake goes to the most important person in your life. I cry everytime I see this 🥹❤️
And then his little bro's reaction... ❤️
A violinist played for 45 minutes in the Washington D.C. subway.
Of the 1,097 people who passed by, seven stopped to listen to him, and one recognized him.
He collected $32.17 in tips from 27 passersby (excluding $20 from the one who recognized him).
Only one person knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. In that subway, Joshua played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.
Two days before he played in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out a Boston theatre, and the seats averaged about $100.
The experiment proved that the extraordinary in an ordinary environment does not shine and is so often overlooked and undervalued.
There are brilliantly talented people everywhere who aren’t receiving the recognition and reward they deserve. But once they arm themselves with value and confidence and remove themselves from an environment that isn’t serving them, they thrive and grow.
Your gut is telling you something. Listen to it if it’s telling you where you are isn’t enough!
Go where you are appreciated and valued.
Know Your Worth.
