When one of your students decides to be the cheerleader in your breakout room...๐It was so fun to see them be so supportive of one another! @GlasgowMS#GMSbelieves
Challenge accepted, @fcpsmsela! #MondayBookChallenge - Front Desk by Kelly Yang. Started this one recently after discovering it in our English 7 book room! Very moving, funny, and exciting - what more could you want?
CHECK out this super sweet comment a student left another student during peer editing today. โI feel like I was reading a book from a famous authorโ #daymade#thecutest ๐โ๏ธ
I love when students are given the same assignment but can share their thinking in multiple ways. Check out some of their reading responses below on characterization, conflict, and theme! #GMSbelieves ๐๐
The AH-HA moment can still happen, even virtually! I love how this student openly shared how she felt when it "clicked." The ah-ha moments are some of my favorite teaching moments. #GMSbelieves@GlasgowMS
Love sending snail mail to our students to acknowledge their commitment to learning during a difficult time! One group's fearless leader had everyone introduce themselves AND say one thing they liked to do BEFORE talking about their story โฅ๏ธ @GlasgowMS#GMSbelieves#snailmail
@GlasgowMS Weโre ready for curbside checkout - carts for browsing & books pulled for requests! See you at the front of school Monday, 9/21 from 10:30am-12:30pm. Books and bookmarks to giveaway along with checkouts. Weโll take books back that you want to return. @GlasgowMS_PTA
Favorite lines: "You always asked us how we were doing, and then you would bring it back up later on-" AND "We gotta embrace feedback. Embracing feedback that feels social, and connected to the kid, and specific, and timely." Let's remember to listen & show kindness!
I highly recommend listening to this podcast! The way Cornelius shares how his student, Nate, felt love in the classroom really resonated with me. I love that kids will remember 10 yrs from now just how much we care through our relationships & feedback. https://t.co/ioZ4cNA8bv
THANK you, @MrsParkShine for this amazing idea on virtual stickers! Anytime kids can see their teacher's face is in a win in my book. I can't wait to use this as one way to provide feedback this year ๐๐๐ป
This summer, I created some videos of book talks through #flipgrid! That way students can watch them at their own pass virtually AND hopefully๐ค๐ป, I can get students to do their own book talks/reviews of their independent reading as the year goes on ๐ค #workinprogress#wegotthis
@ms_englund@GlasgowMS@ktmadigan@FCPSSupt @fezuluaga @FCPSR2@Ricardy4Mason The line I am most interested in from the generic reply is "as per the feedback we have received." I am genuinely interested to know whose feedback is being prioritized above the teachers who will be putting themselves/their families at risk in the fall.
This is no surprise! By working closely with @ktmadigan, Iโve never felt more motivated and supported to try new things and push myself to be a better teacher. Sheโs thoughtful and deliberate, dedicated, and respected. I truly canโt imagine Glasgow without her! #oneteamonegoal
@GlasgowMS is a family & that being said, @ktmadigan is without question the matriarch of that family. She is a shining example of what leadership looks like in @FCPSR2. I cannot fathom a better person to continue the work @ GMS than someone who is already dedicated to that work.
