As Kenyan workers, we extend our sincere appreciation to the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E Dr. William Samoei Ruto for honoring our invitation to be the Chief Guest during this 58th Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.

Specifically, we thank His Excellency, @WilliamsRuto, for his commitment to tripartism, as in ILO C144, which will see @COTU_K continue to work closely with the Government of Kenya to promote and enhance workers' rights and welfare.

Further, as a member of the ILO Governing Body, and considering COTU (K)’s leading role in the continent, we are moved by the assurance and work of the Government of Kenya, as indicated by the President, in the ratification of ILO conventions 189 & 190. Kenyan workers will, indeed, be waiting with bated breath for the three months to end to celebrate the ratification of these two core conventions that will ensure Kenyan workers rights are promoted at places of work.

We equally thank other Kenyan leaders who joined us in celebrating this special day in our calendar. Special thanks go to Deputy President, Hon. Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretary Labour, Hon. Florence Bore, Nairobi Governor Hon. Johnson Sakaja, and ILO Country Director Bro. Wellington Chibebe.

Considering the theme for this year’s labour day which is “Kenyan workers for economic growth, political stability, and job creation”, we will continue calling for political stability and working together with the government to ensure inclusive economic growth.
