Some elderly people and the way they make requests one needs to be smart.
Last Saturday, I decided to pay my mother a visit. I was driving out, about a 15 minutes away from her place, when I had a flat tire.
Luckily, there was a roadside vulcanizer along the road where I got the flat.
I stopped and asked if he had the exact tire for my car. He checked his tire shelf but didn’t have it, he said my car’s tire size was scarce.
So I considered another option, but I wasn’t comfortable with it.
He then asked for my number in case he was able to source my exact tire type, which I gave him. About 4 hours later, he called and said he’d gotten my exact tire.
I headed to his shop. He changed the tire and directed me to get balancing and alignment done. But then he made a shocking request. He said:
“My son, leave the spare tire for baba. You’re a big boy, you can afford another one na.”
This was the tire I had paid for earlier. I responded, “Ahh baba, I can’t o! I need it as a spare tire for emergencies like this.”
Some people ehhh if I had left that tire with him, this same man would be quick to call me a “yahoo boy” who doesn’t know the value of money.
Because in this country today, every young man who looks good and keeps himself well-kept is tagged a yahoo boy by most elders.
My perspective: this isn’t meant to disrespect elders, but to encourage every hardworking youth earning their own money to cultivate the habit of valuing their hard-earned money in order to challenge the narrative that fraudsters have left our elders with.
VENDOR TIPS OF THE DAY 📌
Don't just sell, educate your audience. Most customers don't buy because they don't fully understand the value of what you're offering.
If you sell food, share storage tips. If you sell fashion, show different ways to style an outfit. If you sell home appliances, demonstrate how to use or maintain them.
When you educate, you build trust and when you build trust, you increase sales. People naturally buy from vendors who know their products and are willing to share that knowledge.
A knowledgeable vendor becomes the first person customers think of when they're ready to buy. Don't be afraid to give away valuable information. It doesn't reduce your value, it increases your credibility 🔥
Build authority first, and sales will follow 💯

Nobody disrespects women more than women themselves! 😤
I saw a TikTok where a lady said: “My husband’s female friends have no right to call him by name.”
Then today a bike almost hit a woman.
The rider said “Aunty, no vex.”
The male passenger said “Madam, abeg no vex.”
But the female passenger?
She just said “Sorry dear.”
Iwa werey po lowo gender mi.

Her husband has a side chick.
His mother knows about the affair, and the side chick regularly visits her, bringing gifts.
Sometimes the husband doesn’t come home at night. The side chick is fully aware that he is married, but he has told her he plans to divorce his wife.
Eventually the side chick discovered she wasn’t the only one. She confronted him, and he simply replied, “I’m a man.” She then went to his mother to report him. The mother confirmed the relationship and told her, “That’s how men act.”
Enraged, the side chick beat the mother and took back every gift she had given her.
The mother is now in the hospital.
The husband told his wife to go stay with his mother and care for her, but the wife refused.
I AFFIRM THIS 😇
May today be good for us and may everything we do prosper.
May every challenges or obstacles holding our results back loose their power.
May we become evidence that hardwork, and consistency pays for real.
AMEN.
So you mean you can actually be asked to leave your rented house abroad because your children are too noisy?
I was chatting with a friend who relocated abroad with her three children just about a month ago, and what she told me honestly shocked me.
She said they've already been asked to vacate the house because neighbours complained that her children were making too much noise.
Children under 10 years o .
I had to ask her, Wait... so children cannot play, run around, scream or make normal children's noise again?
The part that really got me was when she said she's even scared of disciplining them physically because she's afraid the authorities could get involved and she might end up losing her children.
Back here in Nigeria, children are shouting, running around, playing, neighbours are shouting, mothers are shouting too... somehow everybody manages.
But honestly, is this how it is in Abroad or did my friend just end up in a particularly difficult neighbourhood?
My dad was an ardent traveler.
He was either on his way to a business trip, a meeting, rinse and repeat.
I grew up thinking travelling was part of our assignment on earth.
My dad made it feel like it was part of the 10 Commandments.
One day, I asked my mum how she was coping with all the frequent travelling.
Her: "Not so easy, but if it fetches us more money, who are we to say no?"
Well, I know my dad didn't close those deals travelling with those old metal boxes of his late grandparents.
He upgraded to luggage that matched the level he was operating on.
Whether you're travelling for business, school, relocation, or vacation, your luggage should work as hard as you do.
These ones here are durable. Spacious. Stylish and built for every journey.

Rush it o. The prices has dropped.
If there’s one thing I’m most scared of, it’s old age and the unpredictability of life itself.
I just saw a video of a woman who now fetches water for food sellers and students.
They pay ₦50–₦100 per bucket. Her husband is late. Her only child died in an accident in Lokoja.
She didn’t waste her youth. She owned a provision store in Kaduna… then lost everything during a clash and escaped with nothing.
She helped her siblings growing up but where are they now?
Life happens.
