SANYO ARMCO RADIO COMPANY

In 1972 the late President Jomo Kenyatta inspecting the African Radio Company Ltd (ARMCO) manufacturing plant for Sanyo radios along Lunga Lunga rd. Industrial Read, Nairobi.

Sanyo Armco was set up in 1970 and was producing 15 different radio models. The company was locally owned and driven by a management team composed entirely of Kenyans.

Sanyo Armco decided to adopt the name Sanyo into their products because the brand name was already popular, So good were their products that Sanyo Japan would send their technical people to benchmark at their Nairobi plant.
