I honestly don’t know why some of you people defending this. How does it make sense that a country with a minimum wage of about $7.25 per hour charges around $880 in import duty, while a country with a minimum wage of about $1.50 for a 24 hour workday charges over $4,500 in duty for the same vehicle? That is called robbery.

You can import a brand new 2024 Toyota Corolla into the US and pay around $880 in import duty. But if you import a used 2024 Toyota Corolla into Ghana, you could pay around $4,500 in import duty. That is absolutely ridiculous. Even Canada sometimes allows eligible immigrants to import a vehicle duty free during their first year. The import duties in Ghana are simply not reasonable, more like robbery!
