I came across an online conversation by Kojja Kabaya about introductions and marriage ceremonies, and it hit me hard.

Many families ask the groom’s side(abako) to bring dowry items like sugar, salt, rice, sofas, and of course cows.
Nice gestures, yes, but let’s be real...within a week most of it is eaten, shared, or gone.
What remains? Maybe a cow or two… and bragging rights.

Meanwhile, service providers cash out big... decor at 50M, food at 15M, sound at 10M, photographers at 7M, artists at 14M, etc.
The girl’s family, the same people who raised her from childhood to womanhood, end up with almost nothing.

Kabaya’s point was bold and its to you the man... why not take that same 80–100M, hand it to the family as a token of appreciation for raising your bride, and let them issue you the Letter of Introduction(Kwanjula Letter).
You can then do church and have a sizeable reception.
At least the money would sustain your bride's home, not just enrich outsiders.

So here’s the sting... are these ceremonies still about love and family or are we simply buying prestige
