ECS is honored to celebrate our ECMS-Inglewood Green Ambassadors teacher, Ms. Tashanda Giles-Jones, who was awarded the Garden Club of America’s Elizabeth Abernathy Hull Award. She was nominated by the local Hancock Park Garden Club who joined us to surprise Ms. Tashanda.
ECMS Inglewood recently hosted its Earth & Wellness Festival with the theme, “Invest in Our Planet, Invest in Yourself”. Students, community members and vendors enjoyed the health clinic, garden beautification projects, food and drinks and games! This was a fun community event!
ECMS-Gardena students had a wonderful outdoor education experience thanks to our partnership with Camp Fire long Beach. Camp Fire provides challenging outdoor rope courses, archery and many outdoor team-building activities that help build individual sense of self.
Our students from ECMS-Gardena and ECMS-Inglewood recently welcomed Malik Books to our campuses. Malik Books is an independent African American bookstore that specializes in culturally diverse books and gifts. Our students were able to shop a variety of books by authors of color!
ECMS-Gardena hosted its annual Leaders Like Me event. This special series invites local leaders of color making an impact in their communities and industries to share their stories with our students and community.

ECMS-Gardena’s Green Ambassadors students visit the Gardena Willows and learn about the history and ecology of the preserve, about native, non-native and invasive species and participate in habitat restoration.
ECHS-Gardena was excited to participate in this year’s Super Kids-Super Sharing! @NFLGreen, the @nfl environmental program, teamed up with the Los Angeles @Rams Los Angeles @Chargers@lasuperbowlhc@Verizon the @YMCA and other local public & private schools.
ECMS-Gardena students had the opportunity to attend the UCLA Bruins vs. Colorado Buffaloes Women's Basketball game. This was one of our first field trips of the semester and everyone had fun. It was great for students to mix and mingle with one another off campus!
For ECS families! This summer, ECS is partnering with Camp Bob Waldorf, a fun, interactive sleep away camp which fosters personal development for campers. Daily activities include arts and crafts, swimming, archery and learning about ranch animal care.
Environmental Charter Middle School - Inglewood’s community garden is to empower the community by increasing health and social equity while simultaneously localizing solutions to food access, climate change, and air pollution.
ECS is hosting our 3rd Annual Unity Fest. Unity Fest is an event that highlights Black history & culture through education, entertainment, and activities. Our theme this year is "Blacks on the Map". Unity Fest Friday, April 1st, 2022 5:00pm-7:30pm ECHS Lawndale.
ECHS-Lawndale’s Advanced Art Class with Mr. Gower has had some exciting new projects! In class, students tap into their full potential of creativity and with guidance from Mr. Gower along the way.
