I was elected by acclamation to serve, until the 17th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties, as the COP-MOP 5 President of the Nagoya Protocol as a susbtitute for Colombia who is not a Party to this protocol.
I am in Cali, Colombia! Three intense weeks of negotiations have commenced today. Kicking off with the 5th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation. As usual I have really good intentions of live tweeting the proceedings but I always get bogged down with negotiations.

I spoke to OECS Commission on the significance of the 1st Meeting of this Subsidiary Body. Indigenous People and Local Communities have long been stewards of biodiversity conservation and play an important role. Here we amplify their voices!
The Convention on Biological Diversity’s first meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Article 8(j) is underway in Panama City, marking a new chapter in global biodiversity governance. We spoke to Nneka Nicholas from Antigua & Barbuda, the country’s Head of Delegation. @UNBiodiversity
SIDS from diverse socio-cultural regions including OECS Member States represented at the Convention on Biological Diversity’s new Subsidiary Body on Article 8(j) which begun this week in Panama are supporting each other and amplify their voices together. @UNBiodiversity

Wrapping up the 2nd Steering Committee today and what a productive week it was! Always a pleasure co-chairing with Astrid and guiding progressive, much needed conversations!
