Why isnโt epilepsy and those affected highlighted more by health organizations?
Epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological disorder yet gets very little attention.
Anyone else agree this is a problem?
@TiffanyKairos @muttmyers I've seen how many ads for drugs to control psoriatic arthritis (prevalence 0.1 - 0.2%), multiple sclerosis (prevalence 0.3%), and metastatic breast cancer (prevalence 0.3 - 0.4%).
None for drugs to control #epilepsy. None.
#epilepsyawareness
@TiffanyKairos I'm going to disagree slightly. I think it's possible to understand the severity of how a person feels without being able to imagine their specific symptoms. Perhaps that's better expressed by "I understand how bad you're feeling" but I usually assume that's what people mean.
Today is #PurpleDay2021! #AskMeAnything about #epilepsy or #seizures!
The number in the picture is wrong. It should not say "200 of them will die." That number should probably be about 1300.
A good relationship with your #neurologist is important. These strategies will help establish one that works best for you. https://t.co/w3wWQO3vnR #BrainandLife
@kaileyh175@lance_fogan I got caught over the holiday break with no refills and had a seizure ๐ I should have called the on-call doctor at the neuro office and explained so they could refill.
@TheNotoriousEEG It says that just over half of people pronounce them the same. It also says that people from Philly pronounce them different. Good luck ๐
