A government with vision would announce the renewable city of the future.
Build the whole thing ground-up to be minimal cost, maximum renewable. Not anti-fossil fuels. Just “if we’re going to do this sensibly, how do we do it?”. Offer incentives to live there. Big blocks of land. Free batteries and solar. Every resident gets a share of any mineral rights discovered within 100sq kms of the city, etc etc. Incentivise major international companies to building there - a SpaceX space port, crazy-big underground data centres. I don’t f-ing know, surely there’s a multitude of possibilities.
