Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, battling liver cancer, yesterday sat in a freshly dug mass grave with 4 bodies — a father and his 3 sons, all members of his church, killed in their sleep.

He wasn't crying for himself. He was crying for those still alive in his congregation, who may be next.

This is what Christian communities in Plateau State are facing every day. The killers identify as Fulani Islamist militants. The world calls it a clash. We call it what it is: annihilation.

He was one of 16 husbands and fathers who were surrounded in their farms on that afternoon and executed one after another by armed Fulani jihadists. "35 Christians are killed a day in Nigeria on average.”

“The Nigerian government is not protecting them,” says Judd Saul, founder of Equipping the Persecuted.

"This is a well-organized and funded Fulani Islamic militia who are hell-bent on turning Nigeria into a caliphate,” he says.

An estimated 5,000 to 10,000 Christians are killed each year, averaging about 35 deaths per day, according to Saul.
