Day 2 focuses on regional frameworks, best practices, and collaborative action planning to turn commitments into action. By bringing border communities together, this initiative is laying the groundwork for safer, more integrated regions and lasting peace.
The sessions explored drivers of insecurity, community perspectives, and practical ways to strengthen law enforcement coordination, improve migration governance, and boost socio-economic resilience for youth and women in Uganda’s border areas.
In his remarks, Okuonzi Alfred, LC5 Chairperson Arua, made a powerful call for coordination, collaboration and honest dialogue. He warned that without these, communities risk becoming unsafe, undermining livelihoods and social cohesion.
Uganda’s borders with South Sudan, DRC and Kenya are lifelines for trade and cultural exchange, but they are also flashpoints for insecurity, irregular migration, and resource pressures.
Over two days, stakeholders from Uganda’s border districts and partner organisations are gathered in West Nile for a Cross-Border Engagement on #Security, #Migration, and #Governance.
Applications are now open for the final #Y4P Migration Fellowship. Don't miss this chance to shape migration policy!
