@bathnes continues to kill housing stock to bow to HMO property developers. Objections outweighed consent. If more designated student housing is being built in Bath we need to return housing stock to homes for families.
@CllrDineRomero 100% should have been an LTN. Why we pander to those in motor vehicles over the safety of children & pedestrians I will never understand. This is a rat run & could have been a pleasant & safe route for residents. We need councillors with backbone & vision for the future. Failed.
Not only have @KLM @KLM_UK @AirFranceKLM lost Liam’s bike and potentially ruined our trip of a lifetime they’ve lost a piece of bikepacking history. Please help us put pressure on them to find and return the Stooge so we can begin our adventure
Why @guardian@mediaguardian do you find it necessary to include anti-cyclist rhetoric, even if meant in jest? It fuels aggression cyclists encounter from drivers everyday. Those 9 words add absolutely nothing except to fuel the "it's ok to hate on cyclists" fire. Shame on you.
@JamesBurdass@sidcot Anyone wondering why lots of shops are shutting these days? It's not confined to bike shops. But as long as your tweet fits your narrative you keep pushing that small mindedness.
@sidcot @ghackney78 @BathCA@BANESConCllrs The A&S Police contact the driver & issue points on their license if they are found to have been careless driving. This means close passes, dangerous overtaking, pulling out of junctions or not stopping at roundabouts to name a few. Hopefully educates the driver to not repeat.
@sidcot @ghackney78 @BathCA@BANESConCllrs And I don't blame their fear. I commute a short distance by bike to work and I can't tell you how many times I have had risk to my life on our roads, and not because I am breaking any road laws. I now have a camera on my bike because if my life is endangered I will report it.
@sidcot @ghackney78 @BathCA@BANESConCllrs And a growing number of ebikes to an older demographic who want to ditch the car for short journeys. I have conversations everyday with people who love the cycle paths we have in Bath - 2tunnels & the B2B - but are scared to ride on our roads as they fear for their safety.
@sidcot @ghackney78 @BathCA@BANESConCllrs I work in a bike shop & I can tell you that the road bikes (ridden by the lycra brigade you seem to focus on) make a tiny % of our sales. The majority of bikes are hybrids sold to people who want to ride with their kids at weekends, or commuters who want to get fit & save money.
@sidcot @ghackney78 @BathCA@BANESConCllrs Red lights, junctions, roundabouts, pedestrian crossings, to name a few. Basically all the same ones that vehicles stop at. Then on bike paths I stop for crazy squirrels, beautiful views to take a photo, a snack, a good coffee shop, a chat with a fellow cyclist or pedestrian.
@philm2244 Just make sure you leave contingency time for your journey. If you get stuck behind any slow moving vehicle - tractor, horse rider, cyclist, large load vehicle, learner driver - you will still have plenty of time to make your appointment.
@steve_abraham74 A banana is the only thing that will save me when I am fading fast so it often is the last item I will eat for its proven rescue remedy. I have been known to eat it earlier but then feel so fearful that I don't have a magic banana in my pocket that I will buy a replacement.
