Today, I learned that the Honourable Rollie Thornhill has passed away.
Rollie served our province as Minister of Development, Chair of the Treasury Board, Minister of Tourism, Minister of Community Services and Deputy Premier. He was the MLA for Dartmouth South from 1974 until 1993. Before his time in the Nova Scotia Legislature, Mr. Thornhill was the Mayor of Dartmouth.
Rollie Thornhill was a gifted debater, with a quick wit and booming voice.
I know many Nova Scotians are mourning his loss today. I send my sincere condolences to his wife Bonnie and sons Jeff and Chris and to all those whose lives he touched in his decades long service to Nova Scotia.
@WalkerMarcus I suppose Toryism really is dead. If the hereditary peers go, and the Bishops, will there be an Anglican presence in the government at all?
@the_thin_place I greatly appreciate a fellow Prayer book enthusiast/Central Churchman from a mainline Anglican denomination. Greetings from Canada - keep up the good work promoting church discipline and calling out Romanist variance from the formularies!
@calvinrobinson@cclaibornemiles The 39 articles are more than a history document: they provide the theological framework (along with the 1662 prayer book) to which all Anglican doctrine must conform.
@CapelLofft@stbotolphcam@CapelLofft That is excellent! Do you know of any other churches in England with such a tradition? I know the Temple Church and the Chapels Royal tend to fit the bill.
The removal of the remaining hereditary peers, the taxing of public schools, and further devolution all clearly laid out in the King’s speech yesterday prove that Labour will do great and lasting damage. @ClarkeMicah, you have been vindicated again, for Reform votes enabled this.
