Although student athletes don’t have a union, it would be wise to establish one or to act as one by having a system wide protest during the season to fight for their rights. Week 10 of #UCR150: Ironically, we're ending the course by talking about activism. They face racism, lack of academic support, and are making them $. It's time to end the rule over their rights and give them the support and compensation they deserve @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely

Week 8 of #UCR150: Do college athletes have the same due process as everyone? Some argue that those rights diminish once they agree to compete in the NCAA, even though violating an NCAA is not a crime. @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely

@sidrasiddiqui23 @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree, @sidrasiddiqui23. They are profiting from them but can't even compensate them nor provide them a proper education. Why is it that so many drop out or receive a degree that doesn't advance them? The same enthusiasm should be toward their major

Week 7 of #UCR150: How does commercialism in college sports undermine athletes' educational opportunities and rights? Their academic journey might be the one that requires less work. Not bashing on my fellow non-STEM majors, but I recognize its harder

Week 6 of #UCR150: Why aren't athletes given the same treatment as their peers if they want to transfer to another university? Funny how colleges can give 1-year scholarships but athletes can't have a 1-year deal w/o being penalized @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely

Title IX was implemented to provide equal treatment and opportunities, instead, they used the "safe harbor" measure to slash men's programs so that they don't have to invest in providing women equal treatment @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely #UCR150

@BCARD38139413 @rabea_qamar I dont think it's fair. Being a student-athlete involves huge risks. You're pushing your body to its limit in order to compete, only to be left stranded if you get injured. The hype behind the NLI helps hide the fact that it's a bad 1-year deal #UCR150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
