Great time at the Annual Labor Day Picnic today in Mannington with great friends and family, including special guest UMWA President Cecil Roberts, WV AFL-CIO President Josh Sword.
I've had the privilege to share the pulpit and fellowship with some great men this weekend celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Calvary Baptist Church Mannington, WV and 20th Anniversary of Pastor Lee Bowman.

Mannington Middle School receives national spotlight on @ABCGMA3 and over $1 million in unclaimed property to benefit students 🎉
Watch the inspirational story of how the first woman to study medicine at WVU has continued to give back to the Mannington community 70 years later.
I was honored to present an unclaimed property check for over $1 million to the Dr. Phoebia G. Moore Trust Fund at Mannington Middle School this week. Established by Dr. Moore, an inspiring WV doctor with a remarkable legacy, the charitable trust will benefit Mannington students.
Sigh. I can identify this street from the houses on the west side of it. Even the fact that I KNOW those houses on the west side tells you I spend WAY too much time looking at photos and Google Maps images of Mannington.
But I love that they are sledding down Hough Street!
This is the actual clock hanging in the mine office near the Llewellyn portal when Consol's No. 9 mine near Mannington and Farmington, WV exploded at precisely 5:27am on Nov. 20 1968, killing 78 men. The explosion stopped it, literally freezing the moment in time
We are currently uploading hundreds of photos of Mannington and the surrounding area to our 1632 & Beyond Flickr page. Many of these photos date back to the 2003-5 minicons, and some are historical images. It's pretty cool to see!
When the American Paladin Kickstarter hits the $300k mark, we're commissioning honky-tonk alt. country legends Monte Warden and the Wagoneers to make an original recording of the Have Gun — Will Travel theme song specifically for the Larry Correia American Paladin Series Launch!
There is a 1632 Flickr account focused on buildings in Mannington! It has 1 album and galleries of photos other people took. There are comments on many photos noting what is there in the 1632verse and also some in the real world. I hope you all enjoy!

The Kickstarter: Dust Sacrifice is a graphic novel. The other novel is a hardback. It's already doing amazingly well - fully funded in seconds, not even minutes - and we want to help them keep that momentum going!
Check out the extras, too.
About Larry 2: This Kickstarter is his first novel with a new publisher, Ark Press. (NO, this does not mean he's left Baen. It means he is working with two publishers. Don't read into it.) He has lots more books than MHI and this. Go check out his books!
About Larry 1: His first novel was Monster Hunter International. A NYC editor or publisher (I forget which job) told him there were too many guns in the novel. He considered their advice, then added some more guns and self-published. He became a successful Baen Books author.
Why have a platform if you never use it to help your friends, am I right?
Larry Correia was a good friend of 1632 and helped with firearms related questions. Larry has a new Kickstarter that I encourage you to check out and share, and hopefully back.

Some things die with their founder. But sometimes a thing is good enough to survive that death - like 1632. There is a new X account for the new magazine @1632andBeyond but there are more followers here until you all go follow the new account.
