"If fascism comes...[it will be] wrapped up in the American flag and heralded as a plea for liberty and preservation of the constitution.”
- James Waterman Wise, Jr. (1936)
@NVIDIAGeForce I’m trying my hand at Blender/UE development using local 2Di to 3D and could really use the extra VRAM that the 5090 has. #RTXPowersPlay
@YossiGoldstein8 Art. 25 didn’t take Transjordan out of the Mandate. It just exempted Mandate lands east of the Jordan River from the Mandate provisions related to the Jewish national home. Notwithstanding its administration by the Hashemites under the British, it wasn’t a separate Mandate.
@__RELIK__@YossiGoldstein8 No, Article 25 simply exempted Mandatory Palestine east of the Jordan River from being part of the Jewish national home provisions.. It was then given to the Hashemites to administer under the British, but it remained formally part of the Mandate until its independence.
@gidonsaar There’s no downside to taking a supportive tone, only an upside.
IMO, thank them for providing the necessary information, say that you regret any misunderstanding wrt Israel’s legal process, and rest assured, Israel will not tolerate any attempt to sell stolen goods.
@LahavHarkov@gidonsaar This situation is an example of "it's not what you say but how you say it." Mr. Sa'ar could have conveyed the same requirements but in a helpful tone, without being combative, and there would have been absolutely no blowback.
@AdamKinzinger I support Ukraine and I support Israel. But if Ukraine isn't Israel's friend, why should Israel be Ukraine's? The issue of the wheat could've been handled with more finesse, but what has *actually* happened? Nothing yet- just (unfortunate) public sparring. Please don't prejudge.
@koshercockney This issue should be filed under. “it’s not what you say but how you say it.” Instead of being defensive and combative, Saar’s tone should have been constructive and supportive. Result is a public relations problem Israel didn’t need.
@gidonsaar stress the importance of the allegations, that Israel would never accept stolen Ukrainian grain, and ask them to help you investigate. You may not like Twitter diplomacy, but it is a reality, and you are coming across as combative and unsympathetic- an unnecessary self-own. 2/2
@gidonsaar Respectfully, you are taking the absolutely the wrong approach. An appropriate maxim: "it's not what you say but how you say it." Instead of being argumentative with Ukraine, and thus angering your supporters who also support Ukraine, I urge you take a sympathetic approach: (1/2)
@AdamKinzinger was one of Israel’s largest crude oil suppliers during the Gaza war. I’m not saying that Israel should buy the stolen grain, but like many sensational stories, I suspect there is much more to this than the headlines.
@AdamKinzinger Israel’s relationship with Russia is complex and Israel needs to thread a needle with them. Israel needs Russia to not oppose Israel’s actions in Syria. Many Israelis are Russian-speaking and visit family in Russia. Russia uses detainment and harassment as levers. Russia also 1/2
@AdamKinzinger@DrEliDavid@JMilei Their mindset is that Israel’s very existence is an affront to them and a source of humiliation. That was behind the original meaning of Nakba (Constantin Zureiq’s Meaning of Disaster). The Palestinian displacement is historical revisionism of the term.
@AdamKinzinger@DrEliDavid@JMilei Adam, I don’t think people in the West truly understand what Israel is up against. Their enemies utterly reject any Jewish sovereignty and would slaughter everyone in Israel if they could. This isn’t hyperbole. Their enemies have always been quite open about it.
