@Yannic44@KS052020 Marvel started with a b-character (Iron Man) and had great success with characters people said would flop because no one had heard of them (Guardians). I don't think Ant-Man is A-list and yet here he is.
@chicfryrice From everything I've ever seen..USA, Canada, and Australia, is it's actually pretty close to equal, with men slightly taking the lead. Moms kill younger kids, dads kill slightly older ones on average. Maybe then no one should have kids?

@OxfordYazuka@DAKKADAKKA1 Yeah that's what he was saying, it seemed like he hit a career low but then that movie came together perfectly and he feels really fondly about it. People have such kneejerk reactions and don't listen to what's being said.
@UntitledTunes@hutchinson I love Ledger but also love Nicholson's classic Joker.
I'd like to see a more comic booky/classic version of this stuff again and I think Gunn is the guy to do it, especially since we have Pattinson doing the grim and gritty version at the same time.
@hutchinson I like Batman Returns the best. The black/silvery color is good, great facial sculpt, and I like the classic yellow with the symbol on the chest. Not a fan of a suit just looking like armor but I like almost any Batman, but for me the taller the ears, the better.
@ProfessorF@KestrelArts Alcock being in it didn't sink the movie, just no one cared. Superhero fatigue is pretty real, Superman did well but it wasn't huge. And then another Super movie right after? A lot of Marvels also underperforming.
I don't think any of these is because of the cast.
@ProfessorF@KestrelArts No one tests a script in front of audiences. I'm sure they did tests on her in costume, go look at auditions for Batman, you see Christian Bale wearing a Forever suit, along with Cillian Murphy and a few others.
I don't really want movies going before even more committees.
@DannyDrinksWine Mel Brooks was better when he went after a general subject like in Blazing Saddles or even High Anxiety. All of Hitchcock, not just picking one specific Hitchcock movie to do a remake of and add terrible jokes to it.
@DannyDrinksWine Mel Brooks really went downhill once he started doing particular movie spoofs about essentially one movie. He did young Frankenstein, but that was almost a sequel more than a parody. Spaceballs was great, but that was the start of his decline.
@SupaisuSama@DannyDrinksWine Because he brought a sort of common guy appeal to movie criticism. Before it was essays in the New Yorker, but Ebert was just a regular sclub on TV talking about them. Plus he was funny and a good writer.
There are plenty of critics today, they’re just all over the place.
@jwordfish I mean, can you even imagine back in the day if someone suggested an actor would keep their mustache for a film shoot and then they would CG it out? Well here we are.
@jwordfish I recently saw a movie which I hadn’t heard of, and I actually thought it was shot in English, but it turns out that it wasn’t and they had dubbed the movie and changed the mouths to match the dubbing. We’re gonna be seeing that a lot is my guess.
@jwordfish I don’t have a particular opinion, although it does look weird, but editors don’t just have to use ADR behind the back anymore. Technology is improved enough to allow them to do this if they wanted to.
@fringeblog@OGWiseman That could be and I wouldn’t be shocked, but at the same time there are plenty of movies that Hollywood didn’t want to make that ended up getting run around them in someway and ended up being great. 10 million would be a long haul for one movie in fundraising.
