The evidence doesn’t support the scholarly narrative regarding Jefferson’s alleged procreation with his slave, Sally Hemings. What caused the narrative to stray so far from the facts?
Thomas Jefferson fathered children with an enslaved woman, agree historians. But the evidence, including the DNA evidence, doesn't support the consensus view, argues Eric Hobby. The historians, and the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, rushed to judgment.

Jefferson was a punching bag in the press. He faced charges of murder, promoting incest, atheism, being half-Indian, robbery, defrauding a widow, plotting to disband the Navy, fathering children with his slave, conspiring to starve the farmers, attempting to overthrow the Constitution, and plotting to collect and burn every Bible in America, among other calumnies.
Jefferson adhered to a personal policy of not publicly addressing any accusation, whether true or false. He firmly believed in the principle of a free press, resolving to let the public judge the validity of each accusation based on their knowledge of his character. In the following passages, Jefferson explained his policy of not responding to such allegations:
“As to my self, conscious that there was not a truth on earth which I feared should be known, I have lent myself willingly as the subject of a great experiment which was to prove that an administration conducting itself with integrity and common understanding, cannot be battered down, even by the falsehoods of a licentious press…. I have never therefore even contradicted the thousands of calumnies so industriously propagated against myself.”
“[I]t has been so impossible to contradict all their lies, that I have determined to contradict none; for while I should be engaged with one, they would publish twenty new ones. Thirty years of public life have enabled most of those who read newspapers to judge of me for themselves.”
“Many of these would have required only a simple denial, but I saw that even that would have led to the infallible inference, that whatever I had not denied was to be presumed true. I have therefore never done even this, but to such of my friends as happen to converse on these subjects, and I have never believed that my character could hang upon every two-penny lie of our common enemies.”
Thomas Paine explained Jefferson’s silence in response to Callender’s accusations:
“It is, perhaps, a bold sentiment but it is a true one, that a just man, when attacked, should not defend himself. His conduct will do it for him, and Time will put his detractors under his feet.”
Today we're announcing Base Energy, a new electricity plan open to any Texan that can choose their provider, battery or not.
Most Texans say they’re happy with their electricity provider. Our data shows 7 in 10 are overpaying and can save with our new plan. The reason is structural: our battery fleet generates revenue by supporting the Texas grid, and we pass those earnings back as a low, fixed rate that's guaranteed below market average, now and at renewal.
Renters, apartment tenants, homeowners not yet ready for a battery: if you're in Texas and can choose your provider, you're eligible.
Affordable, reliable power for all. That's the mission, and today we're a lot closer.
🚨 50% of U.S. distribution transformers are already past their expected useful life.
Over two-thirds of transmission lines and large power transformers are over 25 years old.
The grid is aging out.
I was recently contacted by @MoMonuments, and they told me about their plan to build a 50-foot and then a 500-foot George Washington statue for America’s 250th birthday. Absolutely one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while!
I will have their website listed below so you can read the details and donate if that’s something you wish to do. If not, just sharing this cool project would be a ton of help.
"The central theme of the book is the contrast between the Hobbits (or "the Shire") and the appalling destiny to which some of them are called, the terrifying discovery that the humdrum happiness of the Shire, which they had taken for granted as something normal, is in reality a sort of local and temporary accident, that its existence depends on being protected by powers which Hobbits forget, against powers which Hobbits dare not imagine."

I am proud to announce that I have successfully completed the world’s first USA coast to coast fully autonomous drive!
I left the Tesla Diner in Los Angeles 2 days & 20 hours ago, and now have ended in Myrtle Beach, SC (2,732.4 miles)
This was accomplished with Tesla FSD V14.2 with absolutely 0 disengagements of any kind even for all parking including at Tesla Superchargers.
