#RHUB305 For the writing portfolio, I'm making sure to work on it each day to avoid putting it off to the last minute. Studying for my other classes has been tiring, not gonna lie. I can't wait to finish my first final tomorrow.
#RHUB305 Yay, I just turned in my professional packet! I'm now going to start my revisions and peer reviews for my writing portfolio. I'm a little overwhelmed by the workload I have and the final exams I have to study for. Can't wait to finish this semester! Good luck everyone!
#RHUB305 I like how this class was structured, in that we learned to apply our writing skills toward a job/grad application. This professional packet is so useful and I know I’m going to use it as a reference for when I start grad apps.
#RHUB305 I finished a rough draft of my professional development packet but have the feeling I need to work on my graduate analysis more over the weekend to polish it up. I’m even considering doing the email letter request for extra points.
If you can't make a donation at this point, help me reach my goal by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! Or, even better, send an email to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to my page!
Thanks so much for your generosity!
#RHUB305 Today is #GivingTuesday!! Camp Kesem SDSU is participating by raising $10,000 in one day to support campers through and beyond a parent’s cancer with the life-changing magic of Kesem. Today I am pledging to raise $500!

@DaisyMe29922586#RHUB305 I'm a transfer student too and it's difficult to build professional contacts with professors. However, I would consider emailing them to introduce yourself and show interest of what's being taught in their course. I would also recommend talking to a counselor for advice.
#RHUB305 My goal is to go to grad school and later work in a school setting with children as an SLP. From watching Serwanga’s TedTalk, I realized that I need to work on the competency aspect of the “jawbone” when it comes to writing up a statement of purpose.
@DaisyMe29922586#RHUB305 I would consider adding the work experience you have. Try to tailor your experience to your field of interest by saying things like "communicated effectively in," "helped in leading the team in," etc.
#RHUB305 My professional goal is to work in a school setting with children who have speech and language problems. The SDSU grad program relates to this focus I have, which is the reason why I’m interested in applying there.

#RHUB305 For my S.O.P., I’m going to explain what sets me apart as prospective grad student. Then, share my experience with academics, volunteerism, research, cultural and linguistic diversity, and work. Lastly, explain why this program will help me reach my goals.
#RHUB305 After having my peers review over my CV, I feel more confident in the direction I’m going with it. One of my peers considered that I should include a small summary of goals/objectives at the beginning of my CV, which I’m considering on doing.
@AllanaLeighton #RHUB305 I honestly feel the same way. After looking at the sample CVs, I felt a little intimidated that they were 3 pages long. I also plan to search for more activities and research lab opportunities for the next semester.
#RHUB305 I already have a CV, but it’s been a while since I’ve updated it. I made sure to include organizations/work that I’ve participated/done in the last 2 years. I wonder since I’m planning to attend graduate school, if I should include my GPA?
#RHUB305 For my CV, I plan to include education, research experience, honors, professional organizations and educational travel for my sections. I’m considering using bullet points to summarize my research duties and bolding the title of each section to make it easier to read.
@AllanaLeighton #RHUB305 Same here! This article was very straightforward and I'm for sure going to use it for when I write up a statement of purpose. I'm also glad we're working on writing up applications since it'll be helpful practice for when the time comes around and we need to do one.
#RHUB305 I appreciated that in the "Advice for Undergraduates Considering Graduate School" article, Agre laid out some do’s and don'ts for writing up a statement of purpose. This is a critical part of a grad application, so any advice in how to write one up is helpful.
#RHUB305 Phil Agre mentions in his article that participating in research labs are just as important as having good grades. This which is useful to hear as a junior, so that I know what grad schools are looking for when reviewing applications.
@arianamsosa#RHUB305 I’m so relieved there’s a high demand for SLP’s, but I wonder how Covid-19 will affect our job. I wanna work in a school and wonder how I’d make a treatment plan for my clients. Zoom calls glitch and make it hard to hear another person, but we’ll see how that plays out.
