#engl398R Out of the toolkit, I think most of my time will end up being spent on adding and weaving. I was kind of in a weavy place when I was writing the initial piece and I like the texture that gave the story. Hopefully if I continue that method, the new stuff will fit in too!

#engl398R I also felt that the word count of the original assignment made me rush towards the end without really having any clue about how I wanted to get there and what the ending moment would be. I want to spend some time slowing down the conclusion of the story this time.

#engl398R I talked about it when I was going over Perl & Schwartz, but I really think voice and pacing are my two biggest concerns. The narrative essay was told from a non-chronological 3rd POV, so I think there was bound to be trouble and there still will be.

#engl398R One thing I want to work on in my revised essay is the tense I sued for some of my zoom in moments in the narrative essay. I feel like tackling that first will help me recalibrate the text and get myself in the write mindset to work in new material.

#engl398R One of the most exciting parts of this new assignment is the kind of free reign we have to mess around with the pacing of the story. Perl & Schwartz mention how revision offers the chance to tighten moments that lingered too long but also slow down and explore others.

#engl398R Perl & Schwartz mention the importance of our voice in a text. I know I often forget what kind of tone and style headspace I was in after leaving my work on the shelf for a bit. I think it'll be important to try and reread our works to to find our voice again!

#engl398R Perl & Schwartz mention we be careful not to rewrite the life out of a piece. I think it is important to keep this in mind with our revision because it can be easy to strip all the adjectives and adverbs out of a sentence and a work to try and make room for newer stuff.
