I took video footage from many angles of the protest on the streets of the capital Athens against the massacre of refugees off the coast of Greece under the watchful eyes of Frontex and the Coast Guard.
Thousands of people took to the streets against the EU and Greece policies that drag refugees to their deaths.
The protests were characterised by great anger, with the emphasis on holding those responsible to account and not covering up the crime.
Towards the end of the protest there were several police attacks and about 20 protesters were detained.

You're watching mass resistance in #Athens this evening as 1000's come out onto the streets to protest the refugee massacre in Greece this week. Borders kill. Governments kill. Solidarity with migrants. No human being's illegal. #antireport
It's hard to wrap your head around the scale of the tragedy unfolding in Greece.
Boat capsized with as many as 750 people on board. There were reports of 100 children in the hold. Only 100 people pulled from the waters. Total catastrophe.

The fact that the people of Greece took to the streets in Athens, Thessaloniki and many other cities today to demand accountability for the murderers of refugees should be an example for all peoples. As a refugee journalist living in Greece, I am grateful!!!

For over a decade, Syrians have seen death, destruction & despair.
Over 15 million require humanitarian assistance.
The @UN remains committed to the Syrian people & their quest for dignity, justice & peace.
But we can't do it alone.
My appeal to the international community.
Our new investigation finds 6 months after the World Cup, 100s of migrant workers hired as security guards are being denied justice for abuses suffered.
Despite warnings to FIFA+Qatar to put measures in place, guards suffered a range of labour abuses: https://t.co/TJLtDenwKN
#Qatar: Six months since the #World_Cup, hundreds of migrant workers hired as security guards for the games are still being denied justice for the abuses they suffered https://t.co/W3cPPGlwur
The tragic death of #OmarMohammadAwadin in #Jenin exposes the alarming escalation of violence in the #WestBank. Daytime operations, excessive force, and potential extrajudicial executions cannot be justified. The international community must act to protect innocent lives! #Israel
In a significant step towards justice, officials assemble in #Ljubljana to adopt the #MLA. This new treaty aims to combat #genocide, #crimesagainsthumanity, and #warcrimes, ensuring perpetrators are held accountable. Collaboration is key to ending impunity!
Deeply concerned about the forcible deportation of an individual in the UAE. @UAEGov must prioritize safety and uphold fair trial rights. Everyone deserves due process and protection from harm. Urgent action is needed to ensure justice prevails. #HumanRights#UAE#UAE94
#SalehMirhashemi#MajidKazemi, #SaeedYaqoubi, convicted of armed insurrection against the state & terrorist acts, were swiftly executed following a trial criticized by #humanrights organizations for its lack of transparency and due process. Tragic and outraging! #ExecutionsinIran
#KhalafalRomaithi, a #UAE dissident & member of the #UAE94, disappeared on May 9, 2023. Despite rejection by the Amman court, he was extradited to the UAE, where he faces baseless 'terrorist' charges. Jordanian & Emirati authorities both owe answers to the public! #FreeKhalaf
The civilian population in #Sudan is enduring fear, trauma & suffering on daily basis. #UAE's influence has catastrophic effects on civilian lives. Protection of rights of the civilians must become an absolute priority! #SudanCrisis#HumanRights#RSF
An Emirati-Turkish citizen & member of #UAE94, #KhalafalRomaithi, sentenced in absentia 10 years ago by the #UAE government has been extradited from Jordan! He needs to be protected from all ill-treatment! #humanrights#UAE
The execution of #MajidKazemi, #SalehMirhashemi, and #SaeedYaghoubi is a deeply distressing and infuriating act, given the absence of any evidence linking them to the deaths of two #Basij paramilitary members and a law enforcement officer on November 16. #ExecutionsinIran
