What makes the diploid and haploid cells of some algae so different? Using haplotype-aware analyses, our work with @RedseaPlankton suggests allele-specific methylation contributes to allelic imbalance and diploid-haploid differential gene expression.

@0_minyaaa I observed a similar trend when comparing commercial chemically competent TOP10 with NEB 5-alpha cells for transformation of 6-10 kb plasmids. I believe it is related to the salt concentration in the HiFi assembly master mix.
Check out our latest pre-print based on my PhD work, in which we shed light on the roles of myosins and actin in diatom gliding motility! #diatom#actin#myosin@StefanDiezLab@KrogerLab

I'm excited and thankful to return to the department where my journey in science started.
The Velle Lab opens in January 2024!
Please check out our new Preprint ☀️ there are some new insights into RALF, pectin and FERONIA.
Looking forward to where this is going! And a huge thanks to @KleineVehnLab and our collaborators 🤩
Fritz-Laylin lab circa 2022. I am continually blown away with this group's intellect, drive, and thoughtful care for each other's well being. They are the best! 🤩🤩🤩
A global record of “ghost” nannofossils demonstrates that nannoplankton were more resilient to past warming events than traditional fossil evidence suggests.
