I had to dig deeper when you mention cereal, where I’m from, it’s Frosted Flakes and fruity pebbles.. however, n Burkina Faso and much of Africa, cereals like maize, sorghum, millet, and rice are the primary staples, supplying a large share of people’s calories and protein. Because they are cheap, store well when dried, and can be grown widely, they form the backbone of most meals.
