The spectacle of President Trump and Vice President JD Vance bullying President Zelensky was absolutely shaming. In the office that once housed Roosevelt and Reagan and in the shadow of Churchill’s bust, this unseemly row is beneath the office of the US President.

I have just returned from Ukraine near the front line and both Trump and J D Vance should go and see the appalling devastation that I have seen, inflicted on Ukraine by Putin.

As Putin smiles at this row, Trump must restore diplomatic decency and meet Zelensky without the media circus. What a shameful spectacle…

The worst thing is this was clearly premeditated. It was a trap. Trump and Vance deliberately wanted to humiliate Zelensky. They wanted to make him grovel in the Oval Office to make Putin and their MAGA base happy. Utter scum.
